Rosliyati: A Handwritten Font for Timeless Branding

It’s a typical Monday morning, and I’m sitting at my desk with a fresh brand board open in front of me. The client is a small boutique that sells handmade candles and artisanal soaps—something warm, inviting, and rooted in craftsmanship. They want their brand to feel personal, authentic, and elegant. As I start sketching out logo ideas, I find myself reaching for a font that can capture that same warmth and charm.

That’s when I pulled out Rosliyati. It feels equally charming and elegant. It looks stunning on wedding invitations, thank you cards, quotes, greeting cards, logos, business cards and every other design which needs a handwritten touch. From the moment I tested it on a rough logo draft, I knew this font had potential. It’s not just another script font—it's a character in its own right, bringing personality and emotion to every project it touches.

The First Impressions

When I first placed Rosliyati on my brand board, it immediately stood out. The letterforms are fluid yet structured, with a natural flow that mimics the rhythm of handwriting. There’s a subtle elegance to how the strokes connect, giving it a sense of intimacy and care. It doesn’t feel too casual or too formal—it strikes a perfect balance between approachable and refined.

I started by using it as the primary typeface for the logo. It worked beautifully with the boutique’s name, adding a touch of artistry without overwhelming the design. The rounded serifs give it a friendly, welcoming vibe, while the slight slant adds movement and energy. It felt like the perfect match for a brand that values both aesthetics and authenticity.

Testing in Different Contexts

To get a better sense of how Rosliyati would perform across different applications, I created mockups for various brand elements. On a business card, it looked clean and sophisticated, complementing the minimalist layout. On a product label, it added a handcrafted feel that aligned perfectly with the boutique’s identity. Even on social media graphics, it maintained its charm without losing legibility.

One thing I noticed early on was how well Rosliyati works in short-form text. Whether it’s a tagline, a call-to-action, or a product description, it reads smoothly and maintains visual interest. However, I also considered its use in longer texts, like website headers or editorial content. While it’s not the best choice for long paragraphs, it shines when used as a headline or accent font, adding a stylish flair to otherwise plain text.

For packaging design, I experimented with placing Rosliyati on labels and tags. It looked great against a soft pastel background, enhancing the overall aesthetic without overpowering the design. I also tested it on a sample storefront sign, where it proved to be highly readable from a distance, which is crucial for real-world applications.

Font Pairing and Versatility

As I continued working with Rosliyati, I found myself thinking about how it could pair with other fonts to create a cohesive brand system. It pairs exceptionally well with a modern sans serif font for contrast and balance. For example, using a clean sans serif for body text and Rosliyati for headings creates a dynamic visual hierarchy that keeps the design engaging.

When paired with a serif font, Rosliyati adds a touch of elegance and sophistication. This combination is ideal for branding projects that require both warmth and professionalism. It’s also worth noting that Rosliyati works well with other script fonts, offering flexibility in creating layered typographic designs.

One thing I appreciated about Rosliyati was its versatility. It can serve as a display font, headline font, logo font, or even an accent font depending on the context. Its ability to adapt makes it a valuable asset for designers looking to create a wide range of brand materials without relying on multiple fonts.

Practical Advice and Considerations

If you're considering using Rosliyati for your next project, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, test it in different formats and sizes to ensure it remains legible and visually appealing. It’s especially important to check how it looks on digital platforms, such as websites and social media posts, where clarity is key.

Also, consider the included styles and alternates. Rosliyati offers several weights and ligatures that can enhance your design. These features allow for greater customization and help maintain consistency across all brand assets. Additionally, make sure to review the font’s multilingual support and file formats to ensure compatibility with your project needs.

Finally, always verify the licensing terms. Since Rosliyati is a commercial font, it’s important to understand how it can be used in print and digital contexts. This ensures that your design work remains compliant and protects your client’s brand integrity.

A Font That Speaks Volumes

Working with Rosliyati has been a rewarding experience. It brings a unique personality to every project it touches, whether it’s a logo, a packaging label, or a social media post. Its charm and elegance make it an excellent choice for brands that value both creativity and professionalism.

As a designer, I’ve come to appreciate how a single font can influence the entire brand identity. Rosliyati isn’t just a typeface—it’s a statement. It speaks volumes about the brand’s character, and that’s something I believe every designer should strive for.
